    Santa brings me a fancy radio last december for Thanksgiving. So basically it's a radio receiver, designed with power autonomy in mind.

     

     

    Dynamo and solar cell powered radio

     

    First you can use it the old way, thanks to 6V DC power supply or 2 AAA batteries, but all this stuff isn't provided.

    You can use it powered by solar cells (about 8 hours for a full charge, depending on the Sun obviously) or through a dynamo (a 1 minute job for a quarter hour of FM/AM sound).

    Last, you can use it as a LED light, as a phone charger (adaptators for Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Siemens are shipped with) and even as an alarm.

    Why this device isn't "free as in freedom"?

    What happen if I try to add some USB or SD Card features to it?

     

    Best thing to do seems to start a Free Radio project, hu?

    I mean, all these technologies aren't cutting hedge. Dynamo, radio diffusion and solar cell are based on 19th century works, now largely accessible. There is even some FM/USB sticks freely available.

    You guys, what do you think about starting a radio receiver liberation?

     

     

     

     

    Le Père Noël m'a apporté une radio fantaisie en décembre dernier. À la base, c'est un récepteur radio, conçu avec l'autonomie énergétique en tête.

    Vous pouvez l'utiliser à l'ancienne, grâce à une alimentation 6V ou à l'aide de 2 piles LR03, mais tout ceci n'est pas fourni.

    Vous pouvez aussi l'utiliser avec le capteur solaire (prévoir 8h pour une pleine charge, évidemment selon le soleil) ou via la dynamo (une minute d'effort pour un quart d'heure de son FM/GO).

    Enfin, vous pouvez l'utiliser comme éclairage LED, comme chargeur de téléphone (les adaptateurs pour Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Siemens sont livrés avec) et même comme alarme.

    Pourquoi cet appareil n'est pas "libre comme l'air"?

    Que se passe-t-il si je tente d'y ajouter une prise USB ou un lecteur de carte SD ?

    La meilleure chose à faire est semble-t-il de commencer un projet Free Radio, hmm ?

    Toutes ces technologies ne sont pas dernier cri. La dynamo, la radio diffusion et les capteurs solaires sont tous basés sur des travaux du 19ème siècle, aujourd'hui largement accessibles. Il existe même des clefs USB/FM librement disponibles.

    Les filles, commencer la libération du récepteur radio, ça vous dirait ?

    You can obviously use it to ask for something and get feed back from the community.
